He: "My good little baby."
He kissed my hair, then effortlessly lifted me again, carrying me back to the bed. He laid me down gently and then slid in beside me, wrapping his arms around me and pulling me close, his body a warm, solid weight behind me.
The next morning was warm too. The sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow across the room. I had to get to work, but I had nothing proper to wear. After freshening up in the bathroom, I tiptoed back to the bed to wake Vedansh.
Me: "Vedansh, wake up. You need to get ready and drop me at my apartment."
He: "No... sleep more."
He pulled me back down, his arms tightening around me as he nuzzled his face into the crook of my neck, his morning stubble tickling my skin.
He: "Baby, you smell so good."
In the process of pulling me, I ended up laying sprawled over his chest, my chin propped on my folded hands as I looked down at him.
He: "Let's just sleep a little more."
His voice was a low, husky rumble that was so incredibly persuasive, I was almost tempted to forget all about my responsibilities.
Me: "Then what about the office?"
He: "Let's take a holiday. Just you and me."
Me: "No, get up! If you get me there on time, I'll spend the night here again."
His eyes, which had been half-closed in sleepy bliss, snapped open at that. He shot up so fast that I nearly tumbled off him. Without another word, he swung his legs over the side of the bed and headed straight for the bathroom. I couldn't help but laugh at his sudden burst of motivation.
He emerged a few minutes later, fully dressed and looking sharp, while I was still in my rumpled state from last night.
Me: "Quickly, sir! I have to change, and we can't be late. My boss will shout at me."
He paused while adjusting his cufflinks, a slow, knowing smile spreading across his face.
He: "Your boss won't shout, but he will surely find a way to... hold you accountable."
A deep blush crept up my cheeks at his teasing words, my heart doing a little flip in my chest.
He drove me to my apartment, the city waking up around us. He pulled up to the curb and killed the engine.
Me: "Wait here, I'll be down in 5 minutes."
I dashed upstairs, heading straight for my bedroom to change. I had just slipped out of my comfortable clothes when I heard the faint sound of footsteps on the hardwood floor. I turned, and there he was, Vedansh, leaning against my bedroom door frame with a confident smirk, looking completely at home.
Me: "I told you to wait downstairs."
