Me : Last night you said, "I am yours." So I was just teasing what's mine.

He : But this is the office. And I am your boss.

Me : Yes, sir, I understand. But you are my boss just for the time being. And office romance isn't prohibited in this company—unless they are from the same department. Which we are not.

He : Do not test me, Aahana. Or I will show you what real office romance is.

He got up. Before leaving, he turned back.

He : Wear something nice for tonight's party. I will come to pick you up. And don't make me wait, Miss Aahana.

I went blank. What was with this guy and his mixed signals?

I reached home, did my skincare, my makeup, and wore a plain one-shoulder gown with a deep neckline and a thigh-high slit. I paired it with a matching red necklace set.

When I was satisfied, I waited for him.

Right at seven, the doorbell rang. I opened it. Vedansh was standing there in a pure black suit. Why did he have to look so unfairly handsome?

He grabbed my hand and led me to the car.

He didn't say anything. Not a single compliment.

Just as we were about to reach:

He : Stay beside me the whole time. I don't want any creeps near that beautiful face.

As we reached, we met many clients. Vedansh stood close to me, his hand hovering near my back, protecting me. Until our most important client arrived.

I took his hand. He kissed my knuckles and led me to the dance floor. I looked back at Vedansh, but he was nowhere to be found.

Rohan grabbed my waist, and we danced.

I looked beside me. Even Vedansh was dancing with another client.

I didn't know what I was feeling. Rage. Or guilt. Maybe both burning at once.

Me : Thank you.

I gave him a smile.

The song ended. We swapped partners.

Now Vedansh and I were dancing.
